Corvetteditorial

Rear View Mirror - March, 1992: Don Wolfe steps down after 2 years as President; Donna Bernard joins with the distinction of having North Coast Vettes oldest vette, a '57; top five cars at the Malibu Grand Prix and Marie Callendars brunch run are separated by less than 3/4 second; Brunch run to Ram's Hill in Borrego Springs; and of course, planning for the Weseloh Auto Fair, May 15-17.

Well, the C5 has finally been officially unvieled at an actual San Diego dealer! I saw Bob Stall Chevrolet on the news, with a big crowd of smiling Vetters behind a new Vette. If anyone reading this was there, please write an article about it!

I've almost got the procedure debugged for publishing this newsletter (at least the text part of it) on the World Wide Web. Sometime later this month, point your browser at (take a deep breath) http://www.garry.to (No .com in it). Sometime in the near future I hope to get a scanner and load in some images of our club. The major strength of the web is its linking capability, so not everything has to be on my page. You may put a pointer toward my page on your page, and if you want me to put a pointer to your page on mine, just let me know. We can spread North Coast Vettes all over cyberspace!

There are a couple of pages that have listings for us, but as I write this, neither can be loaded so I can't verify their information is correct. The last several times I checked, they had wrong or outdated information. I corrected one of them twice, but I haven't confirmed they ever got the second one. The Net... <sigh>.

The show season is now upon us, and won't let up for months! Many weekends have more than one exciting event. Even our car show weekend! Our show needs dedicated volunteers to make it work. All the previous shows we have put on have been excellent, because we have had dedicated volunteers. Let's do it again, folks!

02/05/97 - Meeting:

At our February 5th meeting we had one guest. Dave Branson from San Marcos joined us. Dave recently moved here from Bakersfield and he owns an '85 red Vette.

Dave said he heard about our club through the internet on the "All About Corvettes" page. It pays to surf!

02/19/97 - Meeting:

We were very pleased to welcome back Dave Branson as a guest at this meeting. Dave said he does intend to join our club very soon. He will be a welcome addition.

Also visiting was Gary Oliver of Vista. Gary heard about our club from our ad in the North County Times. Gary owns a '75 white Corvette. We were delighted to have Gary as a guest and hope he will join us again real soon.

We have some major events coming up that we will need everybody's help on. In March we will be riding, as a club, in the St. Patricks' Day Parade in San Diego, steer headed by Terry Shrock. April brings our yearly banquet with outgoing officers & incoming officers (the changing of the guard). We need people to volunteer to become officers for the following year. We also have the Weseloh car show in April as well so lets all work together and have some fun.

100 Year Party

On March 15, 1997, San Diego State University will be displaying antique and classic autos. Entrants should plan to display their vehicles from 9am-2pm, arrival and setup 8am-9am. Those displaying will receive a CD and Aztec tickets, value $60. For details call Dr. Bill Guntsler of the SDSU College of Engineering during regular business hours, 594-5807. There is no charge to participate. My understanding is that it will be along Campanile Drive just south of the campus, so it might make an interesting post-St. Patricks-parade activity.
